This page contains a list of different activities you will have to take care of during the first weeks of the semester. Please also check the Orientation Week page for important events and information during the preliminary week of the semester!

If you have any questions or doubts, your first point of contact should be the study counsellor of your academic unit. However, you can always turn to other staff members or fellow students.

During the first weeks

• Use TLU App

  Get an overview of your and the courses.

• Check the Academic Calendar for important dates and deadlines.
• Have a look at the campus map so you do not get lost during your first days.
• Make sure you know who your study counsellor is.
• After you have been entered to the matriculation register, create the Tallinn University user account and email address.
• If you do not want to use the Tallinn University email account, make sure the emails are forwarded to your personal email.
• Have a look at your timetable in . You can easily find your timetable under Study & events, choose your level of studies and then your study programme and year. You should also check the nominal division of your study programme (based on the year of admission) on the webpage of your academic unit before checking the timetables – it will give you a per semester overview of your courses. If you cannot find the nominal division, ask your study counsellor for assistance.
• Register for the autumn semester courses in the Study Information System (ÕIS), i.e. submit your study plan (please see the ÕIS User Guides).
• Make sure you are included in the mailing list of your year (for more information, turn to your study counsellor).
• In case you have a disability (visual, hearing, mobility impairment) and any special needs related to that, please have a look at the information intended for students with special needs.

During the first month

• Set the email address in ÕIS to receive ÕIS messages on time. See ÕIS User Guides for more information.
• Find out about the university-wide project-based course .
• Read the information about the organisation of studies at Tallinn University, have a look at the Study Regulations and Academic Traditions.
• Make sure you know how to use since many lecturers use it for uploading study materials.
• Register as reader in the and have a look at the electronic catalogue which includes the biggest libraries in Estonia.
• Read through the information about health care and insurance.
• Have a look at the possibilities of applying for scholarships or allowances.
• If necessary, check what your options are in case you need to go on academic leave.
• Check out the possibilities our and other student associations have to offer. You are welcome to join them and.
• Order your .
• Have a look at the possibilities offered by the Career and Counselling Centre. You can get updated by job and traineeship offers at their and by joining their career list. If you wish to join the list, please read the information HERE.  
• In case you are interested in scholarships for studies/traineeship abroad, join the grant list - contact person Nele Dobrõš.
• Find out where you can print and scan on campus.
