Introduction

Terje Väljataga graduated from Tallinn Pedagogical University with a degree in science teaching, later obtained a master’s degree in geoecology and has worked as a teacher of natural sciences. With the rise of digital technology, she studied educational technology in the master’s program at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, followed by doctoral studies at Tampere University of Technology in Finland researching adult learners’ self-directed learning in technology-enhanced personal learning environments. Since 2005, Terje has been involved in various research and development projects in educational technology and innovation at both the School of Digital Technologies and the School of Educational Sciences, applying research findings in her teaching practice. She leads the activities of the Center of Excellence for Educational Innovation and the research of the Eduspace Laboratory, and is the curator of the Master's program for teachers of several subjects.

Main tasks

- Initiating and implementing research and development projects on educational innovation and educational technology on all education levels, in formal and informal contexts

- Teaching at master level (research methods, research seminars, innovation in schools and classrooms, engaging learning technologies)

- Supervising master and PhD thesis in the field of educational innovation and technology

- Development of educational innovation

- Implementation of AI in education
