An exhibition in Bussels, Belgium titled "European Literacy Learner" features a poster with the Rector of Tallinn University, Tiit Land, and his message:
"I owe my ability to read and write to my many language teachers. For me, literacy does not solely mean the ability to read and write but also the ability to express your ffeelings and to share jokes with one another. My professional career would certainly be very different if I was simply able to place letters together without also feeling the words. I with for everyone to have the opportunity to acquire literacy skills in ways that not only benefit them in their professional lives, but also in their social lives."
