The Department of Choreography of Tallinn Univeristy will open its new black box theatre on 2 May at 7 p.m. The opening of the theatre also opens the department’s traditional young choreographers’ festival Korfest14, which takes place on 2-13 May.
The Department of Choreography got itself a new black box studio during the 2013/14 academic year and named it Tallinn University Theatre Stella. The official opening of both the theatre and the festival will take place on 2 May at 7 p.m. when the choreography students will perform original works by choreographers Leif Firnhaber (Belgium) and Külli Roosna & Kenneth Flak (Estonia/Norway). 8 BA diploma performances will be shown during the festival, as well as original creations by the above mentioned guest choreographers and MA student Jaan Ulst.
This year’s festival can be characterized by diveristy: the performances offer something for all - for those interested in radical street culture, in the elitist art of ballet or in exquisite experimentation. As a novelty, some performances are directed at younger audiences, followed by a guided campus tour.
