In order to celebrate the 98th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, the Estonian Film Week will be held in Kiev. Recent Estonian films, including best films of BFM, will be shown at the Kinopanorama Cinema from February 24 to February 28.

The Film Week will be opened on February 24 in cooperation with P盲rnu Film Festival. The opening day of the Film Week is dedicated to films awarded at the oldest film festival in Estonia, including How I Saved Africa by Kullar Viimne, and Christ Lives in Siberia by Arbo Tammiksaar and Jaak Kilmi. P盲rnu Film Festival, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in the summer of 2016, also gives an overview of this year鈥檚 festival program.

The Film Week has a program titled 鈥淓stonia and Oscars鈥, which includes a short film The Confession by Tanel Toom, a narrative film Tangerines by Zaza Urushadze, an animated film The Master by Riho Unt, and a drama The Fencer by Klaus H盲r枚.

The program of short films consists of Erik Norkroos鈥檚 humorous etudes on the theme 鈥淎n Estonian鈥檚 Joy鈥, and some new Estonian animated films: Tick-tack by 脺lo Pikkov, Piano by Kaspar Jancis, House of Unconsciousness by Priit Tender, and Pilots on the Way Home by Priit and Olga P盲rn.

Recent narrative films include a youth film Ghost Mountaineer by Urmas Eero Liiv, and a war film 1944 by Elmo N眉ganen. Toomas J盲rvet鈥檚 Rough Stage represents new Estonian documentaries.

The program does not lack recent films by the students of Baltic Film and Media School.
Guests of the Film Week include the directors Elmo N眉ganen, Priit Tender, Tanel Toom, and Toomas J盲rvet; the producers Erik Norkroos and Margus 脮unapuu; and the organizer of the Film Week and programmer at P盲rnu Film Festival 鈥 Vaiko Edur.

The Film Week is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Estonia, the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, the Estonian Embassy in Kiev, Estonian Film Institute and P盲rnu Film Festival.

The aim of the Film Week is to introduce Estonian film production, but at the same time, the organizers will not turn a blind eye to the events in the eastern part of the country. With our presence and our films we wish to express our support for the sovereignty of Ukraine and for the country鈥檚 territorial wholeness. Our brother nation is not alone during difficult times!

Estonian filmmakers invite everyone in Kiev to celebrate the 98th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia at the Kinopanorama Cinema. All film screenings are free of charge!
