Add to calendar
iCal calendarThe lecture is giving an overview of accomplishments and challenges towards 7th Environment Action Programme`s goal: „Living well, within the limits of our planet“. The EEA`s report The European environment – State and Outlook 2015, released this spring, stated that many policies have delivered great results. In Europe and also in Estonia air and water pollution has decreased significantly, waste recycling rates and share of renewable energy sources have increased.
Environmental policies alone or economics and technology-driven efficiency gains will not be sufficient to achieve long term goals. This includes the systems that meet our needs such as energy, transport, food and material use. But also systems such education, finance, taxation and health. Effecting transitions is a challenge but also an opportunity as it can put Europe at the frontier of science and technology, stimulate competitiveness, create jobs and contribute to economic performance.
During the lecture Dr. Hans Bruyninckx will explain, how to achieve these goals and how to make ecosystem policies more influential to halt biodiversity loss. Also there will be an opportunity to ask relevant questions.
