Opening Ceremonies marking the commencement of the 2013/2014 academic-year at Tallinn University  will be held in front of the Nova building at 12 Noon on Monday, 2 September.

Rector Professor Tiit Land, Professor Kaja Tampere and Enelin Paas, the Chairman of the Board of the Student Union will join in extending their best wishes to the students and employees of Tallinn University for a great new academic year.

At the ceremony, the newly elected professors during the past year will also be introduced and they will be presented with their Professor’s Scarf:

  • Mika Aaltola, Professor of International Relations and European Studies
  • Mart Abel, Professor of Mathematics
  • Eha Rüütel, Professor of Art Therapies
  • Merike Sisask, Professor of Social Healthcare
  • Anastassia Zabrodskaja, Professor of Estonian as a Second Language
  • Kaja Tampere, Professor of Communication Management
  • Sirje Virkus, Professor of Information Studies

The ceremony will conclude with a concert by the musicians from G. Ots Tallinn Music School.

Work and studies on 2 September:

Please note that 2 September is both a normal working day as well as the ceremonial day for a new academic year. The opening ceremony is mainly intended for first year students. Classes scheduled for times during and after the Opening Ceremony may be subject to change according to agreements between lecturers and students.
