Public lectures: Disruption - Thinking through new metaphors
Add to calendar
iCal calendarOn the 6-7th of October there will be a 2-day workshop for our advertising students and two public lectures „Disruption – Thinking through new metaphors“. The lectures are conducted by Thomas Wiben Jensen, Harald & Asmund Havsteen-Mikkelsen (Denmark) at Tallinn University.
As artist and writers we often find ourselves in the midst of working processes where we seem ’stuck in a hole’. This metaphor describes a situation that makes it understandable, through a linguistic imagination, what it means to be un-inspired, unable to go further. We live by metaphors (Lakoff & Johnson), but we can also disrupt ourselves and our way of thinking by using or inventing new metaphors to describe our working processes and creative output. ’Are we riding the back of the dog or are we on a leash?’
Thomas Wiben Jensen (born 1974) is an associate professor, Ph:D. at University of Southern Denmark (SDU) with a central research interest in metaphors; Harald (born 1975) & Asmund (1977) are brothers and are both working as authors and artists in Copenhagen. During the workshop they will present some aspects of their practice in relation to the theme of disruption. See their websites: www.haraldhavsteen.net and www.asmundhavsteen.net for further information.
