iCal calendarMaría Jesús Rodríguez-Triana, a candidate for the positions of Senior research fellow on New Learning Environments and Technologies (collaborative, problem-based and creative learning) and Senior research fellow for learning analytics and educational data mining (algorithms and visualisation), will hold her Venia Legendi “ADA: Aligning Learning Design and Learning Analytics”.
Abstract:
New teaching and learning paradigms are arriving to schools and universities promoting collaborative, inquiry, problem-based and creative learning. Since the implementation of the aforementioned paradigms is not trivial, Learning Design supplies teachers and students with design guidelines and good practices. However, following these design principles does not guarantee a successful learning process. Albeit Learning Analytics is a promising research area that aims to better understand technology-enhanced teaching and learning processes, the educational meaning of its indicators and visualisations is not always obvious or significant for the final users. In this lecture, I will present how aligning learning design and learning analytics approaches in the CEITER project could guide the application of the aforementioned pedagogical paradigms and, at the same time, provide teachers and students with understandable and actionable analytics.
Bio:
María Jesús Rodríguez-Triana received her PhD from the University of Valladolid in 2014 for her thesis “Linking scripting and monitoring support in blended CSCL scenarios”. She received the award for best PhD Thesis from the eMadrid programme. Her postdoc period was at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, where she researched computer-supported co-learning scenarios and research-based learning in online learning environments.
