Add to calendar
iCal calendarLuis Pablo Prieto, a candidate for the positions of Senior research fellow for learning analytics and educational data mining (algorithms and visualisation) and Senior research fellow on New Learning Environments and Technologies (planning and orchestration of learning), will hold his Venia Legendi “Orchestration and Learning Analytics: a lecture and a vision”.
Abstract:
"Orchestrating learning" was named one of the grand challenges in technology-enhanced learning research in 2009, but... what do researchers mean by 'orchestration', and why is it so crucial? In this lecture on educational technologies I will review notions and applications of this concept to learning technologies (including some of my contributions to the topic), and I will outline a vision of how such research, along with emergent trends like multimodal interaction and learning analytics, can help the CEITER project address some of the problems that have plagued educational research for decades.
Bio:
Luis Pablo Prieto received his PhD from the University of Valladolid in 2012 for his thesis “Supporting orchestration of blended CSCL scenarios in Distributed Learning Environments”. He received the award for best PhD Thesis from the eMadrid programme. He spent his postdoc period at the Computer Science Laboratory in Grenoble, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, as a Marie Curie grantee. His research focuses on the correlation of pedagogy, psychology and computer sciences, with an emphasis on learning analytics, feedback visualisation and orchestrating learning in smart classrooms.
