Trainer - Ilaria Tucci
(she, her) holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies from Tampere University (Finland, 2022). Professional actor (MA in acting, 2002) and graduated with honors from the University of Pisa in peace studies (MA, 2013), her research combines applied theatre and peace research. Her arts-based doctoral research focused on the community-based theatre experience she facilitated in Lampedusa with local activist on the everyday contradictions at the militarized Border of Europe. Ilaria works as a theatre practitioner, peace researcher, university lecturer and diversity agent. In her practice, she has applied theatre as a tool of dialogue among people, participation, conflict transformation, peace education and empowerment. She is a certified civil and commercial mediator, as in 2010 she has successfully attended a Professional Course in Civil and Commercial Mediator, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Justice at the Universit脿 di Pisa - CISP (Inter-disciplinary Centre of Peace Sciences). Since then, she has been combining and using her theatre practice and mediation skills for several courses. In the last few years (2016 鈥 2023) she has been teaching the original syllabus 鈥淭heatre for Peace鈥 for Master鈥檚 students about nonviolent communication, conflict studies, mediation practices throughout participatory approaches and applied drama. In Italy, she has worked as theatre director, theatre teacher, event organiser and community facilitator for theatre companies, organisations and municipalities. She is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher in research project at the Tampere University funded by Kone Foundation (2022 鈥 2024). She co-organises and facilitates the co-creative workshops at the core of the project. She is interested in how integration practices can be studied through cooperative practices as workshops, and also in researching the challenges and learning opportunities of participatory approaches in general. Concomitantly, she has been exploring the power of multilingualism on stage, especially regarding the representation of diversity and integration practices. In her last theatre project with the FinNomads Theatre Collective, she wrote and directed the multilingual and interactive children鈥檚 play Shamans 鈥 a story about friendship and magic.
