Tallinn University has announced a public competition for the position of Associate Professor in Educational Data Mining. The position will be filled from September 1st, 2022. The deadline of submitting the application documents is 21st February 2022 (incl).

General description
Research track associate professor in Educational Data Mining (hereafter Associate Professor) is an internationally renowned researcher who conducts research and development activities in data mining that focus to the problems of educational innovation through digital technologies, with strong ties to applications. Participates in international cooperation as well as cooperation with other institutions, and applies funding for research and development. 

Job requirements 
The candidate must fulfill all general requirements of the position of research track associate professor stipulated in the Employment Relations Rules of Tallinn University. 

Additional requirements
Experience of participating in large-scale research and development projects is recommended.

Job responsibilities
The associate professor

  • actively participates in international research and development activities, finds research and development resources, and supervises researchers involved in these activities;
  • leads a research team or a research project or a significant part of a big research project, prepares project proposals;
  • publishes in leading international journals and presents on international conferences;
  • teaches and supervises students at all levels of higher education as well as postdoctoral researchers;
  • participates in administrative and development activities of the School of Digital Technologies and outside the school.

Language skills: English (on the level necessary for conducting research and teaching). An employee who does not speak Estonian is expected to start acquiring proficiency in Estonian upon starting work and achieve language proficiency level B1 within three years and a level comparable to level B2 within five years in order to be able to perform tasks related to institutional development and administrative work in Estonian.


Start of the Employment Contract: 01.09.2022. The exact date of employment and other terms of the employment contract will be agreed with the winner of the competition.
Working load: 1,0, including teaching at least in the amount of 5% of the work load.
Salary: to be agreed, according to Tallinn University remuneration regulations.
