September 1st comes different this year than before. When in the spring, 23 institutes and 2 colleges gave out diplomas, this fall the opening ceremonies will be held in six new large institutes and the two colleges of Haapsalu and Rakvere.

Opening ceremony of 2015/2016

The main opening ceremony will be held at 16 at the Tallinn University courtyard, in front of the Nova building (Narva mnt 27). The members of staff and students will be greeted by rector professor Tiit Land and the chairman of the Student Union, Marlen Ulrika Elisabet Kakkori. The rectors of the new institutes will be introduced. In addition, professors who had been elected during the previous year, will receive their professor's scarves.

A young rockband will perform with a concert following the ceremony.
The charismatic singer Laura Prits of Ziggy Wild - the Winner of 2013 Estonian battle of the bands competition - graduated Tallinn University this summer. With an energy that pulls you along with a greater force than you can handle, the suprising and emotional Ziggy Wild is a young rock band that has stayed loyal to an old-school sound. Already their the show is a spectacle that you just have to see and experience!

Opening events of the new academic units

All freshmen and other students, as well as employees and partners of the new institutes are welcome to the opening events. The participants will be greeted by rector professor Tiit Land and the new directors. The leaders of the areas of studies and the office staff will be introduced.
