The Researchers' Night is an annual Europe-wide event that brings together
researchers and the public at large on the fourth Friday of September.
Researchers at Tallinn University will conduct bold experiments on Freedom
Square in Tallinn and in workshops at the Viimsi School during the
Researchers’ Night event on September 23.Those interested in science can
take part in three workshops organized by the researchers of Tallinn
University. Firstly, a vibro-acoustic workshop will help participants
understand the relationship between sound vibrations, purring and health.
The participants can experience the relaxing purr of a vibro-acoustic bed,
learn to make a purring sound themselves and take an active role in
improving one's wellbeing. All their feelings, impressions and associations
can then be recorded with the help of colours. The workshop will be
supervised by Ivar Vinkel M.A.(Psychology), Eve Lukk M.A. (Music Therapy)
and Kaia Laurik-Sarapson, an M.A. student in Art Therapies. The workshop
will be open from14:00–20:00.Secondly, a workshop will introduce a
‘geo-radar’ that helps reveal secrets from the depths of the earth. The
‘SIR 3000’ model will be introduced by Hannes Tõnisson, a researcher
of Landscape Ecology at Tallinn University. The radar will be displayed in
the AHHAA Science Centre and demonstrations of it will take place outside
on the grass area next to the St John's Church.Thirdly, researchers from
Tallinn University Institute of Ecology will conduct workshops, which
provide an introduction to two fascinating methods of analysis. One helps
in understanding the situation of bodies of water by analyzing diatoms. The
other workshop demonstrates how to analyze pollen in honey using a
microscope. This method of analysis is used to determine if honey is really
from a local source. The workshops will be open in the research tent from
14:00–20:00.Pupils of Viimsi School can participate in the workshops
organized by Tallinn University at Viimsi School from 19:00–21:00.For
