The next public lecture of Studia Generalia entitled "Miracle of Estonia.
Messages from the Estonian Human Development Report 2010/2011" will be
delivered by Professor Mati Heidmets. The lecture will take place in the
auditorium M-134 (TU Mare building, Uus-Sadama 5) on Thursday, October 13
at 16:00. The lecture will be in Estonian.Professor Heidmets, who was the
editor of the chapter about education in the Human Development Report, will
analyse if and why Estonia, according to the Report, has managed better in
several fields of development as compared to Latvia and Lithuania. The
lecture will focus on the trends of the past 20 years in Baltic countries
and the future opportunities for these countries in Europe and
beyond.Studia Generalia is a series of public lectures delivered by the
teachers, researchers and visiting lecturers of TU. Anyone who enters the
University building can listen to what prominent thinkers have to say on
current topics that affect society, and also participate in the discussion.
The lectures are held once a month on Thursdays. Students can obtain two
credits after participating in the whole series. Participation is free of
