On Tuesday, May 18 at 14:00 professor Thomas Kasulis from Ohio State
University will give a lecture titled “Zen Buddhism and the Ethics of
Responsiveness” in room M-225, TU Mare building. "Zen Buddhism and the
Ethics of Responsiveness" explains Zen ethics in the context of East Asian
ethics generally - Confucian, Daoist, Shintō). The lecture tries to
present a way of understanding East Asian, and ultimately Zen, ethics as
not bound by rules and duty, but by sensitivity and responsiveness; an
attempt to place East Asian ethics in terms of the dominant East Asian
understandings of what it means to be a person. The lecture will be held in
English and is open for everyone.
