Alexander Berdichevsky, a linguist from the University of Bergen, will
deliver a public lecture entitled "Norm Erosion and Grammatical Innovations
in the Language of the Russian Internet". The lecture will be held in the
auditorium S-333 (TU Silva building, Narva Rd 29) on Wednesday, 15 February
at 14:15.The lecture will discuss an innovation in the Russian language
that has evolved due to a new channel of communication – the Internet.
The lecturer will introduce examples from other languages as well.Alexander
Berdichevsky, a Latvian researcher of the Russian language, graduated from
Lomonosov Moscow State University. In his studies, he focused on Russian
semantics, semiotics and natural language processing. He has worked as a
science journalist in Russia; he is also one of the founders of the
International Linguistics Olympiad. He is currently doing his PhD at the
University of Bergen in Norway. Further information about Alexander
