Tarmo Metsmägi, a doctoralt student at the Tallinn University Institute of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, will defend his PhD thesis entitled "Operators with the Variation Detracting Property and the Order of Approximation in Variation". His defence will take place in auditorium M225 (Mare Building) on Wednesday, 4 February 2015 at 14:15.

The supervisor of the thesis is research professor Andi Kivinukk, Tallinn University.

The opponents of the thesis are Dr Anatolii Podkorytov from Saint Petersburg State University, and Associate Professor Ants Aasma from Tallinn University.
