What Will Happen to TU Employees After September 1st?
“The University works on all cases, including those to do with the structure and leadership reform, according to the Employment Contracts Act,” assures the Human Resources Manager of TU, Eveli Ojamäe-Veider.

This means that starting from September 1st, every employee from the former units, whose work continues in the new unit, will continue to work there. The members of staff of the new units will be discussed at the April hearing of the Senate, and most probably be confirmed in May.
The contracts of academic staff members with a fixed-term contract expiring in 2015, will not be automatically renewed. If such an employee is currently running for an academic job, and gets it, they will be signed up for a contract for an unspecified term starting from September. Only those members with a fixed-term academic job will receive a fixed-term contract for up to five years.
Those members of the academic staff, whose contract expires after 2015, will continue to work at the new unit.
This logic also applies to the members on our non-academic staff – if these positions are confirmed at the new unit, the employee will continue to fill their position.
If the new unit has the wish or need to change the work relation, they can do it by mutual and written agreement. If a position is made redundant, the employee will likewise be made redundant and all actions will be taken according to the Employment Contracts Act.
