TU professor Airi-Alina Allaste elected to the executive committee of ESA
During the 12th Conference of European Sociological Association (ESA), held on August 25-28 2015 in Prague, Tallinn University’s professor in sociology Airi-Alina Allaste was elected to the association’s executive committee for 2015-2017.
During the 12th Conference of European Sociological Association (ESA), held on August 25-28 2015 in Prague, Tallinn University’s professor in sociology Airi-Alina Allaste was elected to the association’s executive committee for 2015-2017.
A total of 24 candidates applied, out of whom 14 were elected. Professor Allaste gained the most votes with over 300 people supporting her nomination.
Airi-Alina Allaste is professor in sociology in Tallinn University and will be president of the Estonian Association of Sociologists starting next week. Her main research areas are sociology of youth, youth subcultures, lifestyle and civic engagement. Prof. Allaste is the head of several international research projects, including EU FP7 project “Memory, Youth, Political Legacy And Civic Engagement”.
ESA is an academic association of sociologists and a non-profit Europe-wide association made up of over 2000 members. It was established in 1992, following deliberations and consultations among sociologists from a diverse range of countries.
ESA aims to facilitate sociological research, teaching and communication on European issues, and to give sociology a voice in European affairs.
