Tiit Land Wins Rectorial Election

The current rector, Professor Tiit Land was re-elected as the next Rector of Tallinn University.

The current rector, Professor Tiit Land was re-elected as the next Rector of Tallinn University. The electoral body consisted of Senate members, leading researchers, elected professors, members of the advisory board and student representatives, altogether 102 members

Out of the 94 members present, 65 preferred professor Land, two ballots were declared void. The other candidate at the elections was Hannes Palang. The new term will last from May 15, 2016 until May 14, 2021.

Tiit Land was born on September 25, 1964; he has a PhD in neurochemistry and neurotoxicology. He has been a professor of chemistry at Tallinn University since 2006, and rector since 2011.

Tallinn University has over 8800 students and employs 850 full-time staff members.
