Tallinn University Language Centre starts to administer British exams in Estonia

On 20 October 2008 Tallinn University Language Centre got a licence to
administer British exams in Estonia. The following exams can be taken in
Tallinn University Language Centre from January 2009:

1) The International English Language Testing System (IELTS):
This exam provides an assessment of English language proficiency. It is
widely recognised for further and higher education and is preferred by most
universities and other educational institutions in the United Kingdom,
Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States of America.
IELTS assesses whether the candidate is ready to study in English or work
in an English speaking environment.

There are two different modules in IELTS:
AC - Academic for people applying for tertiary, undergraduate, postgraduate
and professional registration;
GT - General for immigration purposes, for those going to English speaking
countries to complete their secondary education or to undertake work
experience or training programmes not at degree level.

2) Cambridge ESOL exams:
The First Certificate in English (FCE) tests general competence in English
- it is ideal if you want to work or study abroad or to develop a career
which requires language skills (e.g. business, medicine, engineering). FCE
indicates sufficient proficiency in English to be of practical use in
clerical, secretarial and managerial jobs in many industries, in particular
tourism, where contact with English speakers is required.

The Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) indicates a high level of
language competence for candidates wishing to use English for professional
or study purposes. It is recognized by the majority of British universities
as fulfilling entrance requirements in the English language.

The Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) indicates a higher level of
competence in English. If you are able to function effectively in almost
any English-speaking context and are approaching a standard of English
similar to that of an educated native speaker, then this is the exam for
you. The CPE exam is recognized as fulfilling entrance requirements in the
English language by British Universities and many universities in other
English-speaking countries, and by other institutions of higher education
and professional bodies worldwide.
