Tallinn University joins the International Association of Universities
Tallinn University became a member of the International Association of
Universities (IAU) on December 1st. Founded in 1950, the IAU is a
worldwide association of higher education institutions. The IAU is the
UNESCO-based association that brings together institutions and
organizations from over 150 countries for reflection and action on common
concerns and collaborates with various international, national and regional
bodies active in higher education. Its services are available on a priority
basis to Members, but also to organizations, institutions and authorities
concerned with higher education, as well as to individual policy and
decision-makers, specialists, administrators, teachers, researchers and
students. The Association aims at giving expression to the obligation of
universities and other higher education institutions as social institutions
to promote the principles of freedom and justice, human dignity and
solidarity through teaching, research and services. Through
international cooperation, it also contributes to the development of
material and moral assistance for the strengthening of higher education

Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE), Network of Universities from the
Capitals of Europe (UNICA), The European Network of Mobility Centres
(EURAXESS), The Baltic Sea Region University Network (BSRUN), Baltic
University Programme (BUP) and has signed the Magna Charta Universitatum
which unites more than 600 universities and has become the most significant
document shaping the principles and values of universities worldwide.
