Tallinn University and Yunus Emre Institute Confirm Their Cooperation in Turkish Studies
Professor Tiit Land, Rector of Tallinn University, signed a Cooperation
Agreement on Turkish Studies confirming the cooperation between Tallinn
University and the Yunus Emre Institute covering the introduction of
Turkish language teaching and culture to Tallinn University. The agreement
was signed on 17 February 2012.The Turkish language has been taught in
Tallinn University since 1993. A BA curriculum of Middle Eastern and Asian
Studies was commenced in the year 2000, with Turkish being one of the main
languages taught.As a result of mediation by the Turkish International
Cooperation and Development Agency and the Yunus Emre Institute, four
lecturers from different Turkish universities have delivered lectures on
the Turkish language, culture and literature at Tallinn University. Mehmet
Celal Varisoglu has worked in Tallinn University as a visiting professor
since 2008.The Cooperation Agreement confirms that Yunus Emre Institute
will continue to bring lecturers of Turkish origin to Tallinn University
and will continue to equip the Tallinn University Estonian Institute of
Humanities with textbooks on the Turkish language, literature and culture.
The mutual cooperation will also contribute to the exchange of information,
lecturers, researchers, students and non-academic staff.The Cooperation
