Prof Michael Rothberg’s and Prof Ann Rigney’s Public Lectures

On 17 and 18 March 2017, two world’s leading scholars of cultural memory Prof Michael Rothberg and Prof Ann Rigney will give public lectures at Tallinn University.

On 17 and 18 March 2017, two world’s leading scholars of cultural memory Professor Michael Rothberg (University of California, LA) and Professor Ann Rigney (Utrecht University) will give public lectures at Tallinn University.

On Friday, 17 March at 16.00 (in room M-218) Prof Rothberg’s lecture “Inheritance Trouble: Migration and Transcultural Holocaust Memory in Contemporary Germany” will discuss how migrants from Turkey engage with the Holocaust memory in Germany.

On Saturday, 18 March at 16.00 (in room M-218) Prof Rigney will give the lecture “Imagination, Materiality and the Re-making of Memory” that deals with the memory of the colonial troops on the Western Front of the First World War.

The public lectures take place in the framework of the symposium “Transcultural Memorial Forms: Contemporary Remembrance of War, Displacement and Political Rupture” organized by the research network “Narrative and Memory: Ethics, Aesthetics, Politics” of the Nordic Summer University and the Estonian Graduate School of Culture Studies and Arts.
