Tallinn University and Baltic Film and Media School students collaborated in making the new web-based newscast Student.TV/news.

The show focuses on topics of student life. The first show features associate professor Linnar Priimägi from the Institute of Communication. The newscast also has an experiments department that tried and tested the coffee sold around Tallinn University campus for the first show, to find the best and the cheapest cup.

„The greatest value of Student.TV for students is definitely the opportunity to utilise their specialities and carry out their ideas,“ says Kertu Vider, chief editor of Student.TV. She adds that the student body is a part of society that should maintain its sense of critique and act as a watchdog about topics that concern it. Giving students a louder voice will hopefully be one of the biggest favours that Student.TV does to the students.

Jaan Kalmus, lead camera operator of Student.TV: „Specialists from all areas are required to make television, and Student.TV brings together students from various curricula to work for a mutual goal.“ He adds that Student.TV as a collective student voice is meant for students across Estonia.

Student.TV’s objective is to take information to students but the subjects could certainly interest future students and parents as well. Student.TV provides a chance for future specialists to put their gained knowledge and plans into practice. For example, the Audiovisual Media students of Baltic Film and Media School, Media and Marketing students of Tallinn University, and many others. Everyone is welcome to join the team.
