„We have reached a point today where we have to think our future through,“ the Rector says. „When we look back on the past, Tallinn University is undoubtedly the biggest merger project in Estonian higher education. However, the merger cannot last forever, and now it is time to think about what will become of us over the next five years. We wish to go about this process in an open manner, and talk to all the parties involved. As a result of this open discussion, we will create an initial plan that will later turn into our new development plan. So right now is the moment to halt any of the university leaders and tell them about your ideas.“

Land offers the four main challenges, which are: a clearer definition of the university’s profile, internationalisation, a deepening interdisciplinarity in the study, research, development and creative activities, and assuring quality in all the areas. „If we can reach our goals and vision, then we will have a clear image by 2020 of what the university looks like, and all the Estonians will know it – if you ask a person on the tram in front of the university what is Tallinn University, and they can tell you exactly,“ he adds.

The aim of the video stories is to inspire and instigate the students and staff of the university to think about the future, and also to gather input to plan the university development. The interviewees will talk from the viewpoint of their area, as well as point our keywords that describe the development of our university in a wider plan.
