New academic year starts in Tallinn University

Opening ceremonies marking the commencement of the 2013/2014 academic-year at Tallinn University will be held in front of the Nova building at 12 Noon on Monday, 2 September.About 2,800 new students start in Tallinn University this autumn, which is more than the spring prognosis estimated. The number of students in Master’s programme is also bigger – close to 900 new Master’s students start this year. The 2013/2014 academic year welcomes more than 10,000 students altogether.

Opening ceremonies marking the commencement of the 2013/2014 academic-year at Tallinn University  will be held in front of the Nova building at 12 Noon on Monday, 2 September.

About 2,800 new students start in Tallinn University this autumn, which is more than the spring prognosis estimated. The number of students in Master’s programme is also bigger – close to 900 new Master’s students start this year. The 2013/2014 academic year welcomes more than 10,000 students altogether.

Rector Professor Tiit Land and Enelin Paas, the Chairman of the Board of the Student Union will join in extending their best wishes to the students and employees of Tallinn University for a great new academic year. Professor Kaja Tampere will give a speech on behalf of the new professors.

At the ceremony, the newly elected professors during the past year will also be introduced and they will be presented with their Professor’s Scarf.

The new professors are:

  • Mika Aaltola, Professor of International Relations and European Studies
  • Mart Abel, Professor of Mathematics
  • Eha Rüütel, Professor of Art Therapies
  • Merike Sisask, Professor of Social Healthcare
  • Anastassia Zabrodskaja, Professor of Estonian as a Second Language
  • Kaja Tampere, Professor of Communication Management
  • Sirje Virkus, Professor of Information Studies

The ceremony will conclude with a concert by the musicians from G. Ots Tallinn Music School.
