Film students were awarded with BOB Student Film Awards this weekend
The BOB Student Film Awards were handed out this Saturday, 5 April, at the Tallinn University SuperNova Cinema. The BOB Awards are the only category-based film awards in Estonia. There were plenty of awards given to Estonian film students, but also to young filmmakers from Latvia, Finland, Ukraine, Japan and Colombia.

There were plenty of awards given to Estonian film students, but also to young filmmakers from Latvia, Finland, Ukraine, Japan and Colombia.
The awards were handed out during the 鈥淏est of BFM鈥 Student Film Festival end ceremony. 鈥淏est of BFM鈥 is the Baltic Film and Media School鈥檚 annual event, and this year, for the first time, Estonian Academy of Arts鈥 Animation Department was included with their films.

This year鈥檚 BOB (aka Estonian mini-Oscar) winners were:
- Best animation - "IMG_00_01_JPG", director Zane Oborenko (Latvia)
- Best documentary - 鈥淧aradiis鈥 (Paradise), director Nora S盲rak (Estonia)
- Best feature film - 鈥溍刧e鈥 (Awesome), director Rein Zobel (Estonia)
- Jury's special mention - "Ema. Miljonite nimel" (Mother. In the name of millions), director Vyacheslav (Slavik) Bihun (Ukraine)
- Jury's special mention - "Kell peatus 6.30" (Clock stopped at 6.30), director Liiva Viln墨te (Latvia)
- Audience award - "Kolm" (Three), director Eva K眉bar (Estonia)
- Best documentary director - Kaisa Sammelselg and Gerli N玫mm (Estonia) for "Hetk Ulkaga" (Moment with Ulka)
- Best feature film director - Carlos Lesmes (Colombia) for "Kaardimaja" (House of Cards)
- Best television documentary director - Aino Salmi (Finland) for "脮nnelikud inimesed kunsti ei vaja" (Happy people don`t need art)
- Best documentary filmmaker - Akio Yuguchi (Japan) for "Avec"
- Best cinematographer - Meelis Mikker (Estonia) for "Kolm" (Three), director Eva K眉bar (Estonia)
- Best art director - Matis M盲esalu (Estonia) for "Cisco", director. Reino Aedm盲e (Estonia)
- Best actor - Karl Gregor (Estonia) for "脛ge" (Awesome), director Rein Zobel (Estonia)
In addition, the winner for this year鈥檚 Anri Rulkov Memorial Award was Moonika Siimets
The awards were handed out during the end ceremony of the 鈥淏est of BFM鈥 Student Film Festival that took place 31 March 鈥 5 April.
The BOBs were handed out by the honourable jury: Marje Jurt拧enko (ETV2), Tristan Priim盲gi (Sirp), Piotr Z艂otorowicz (Lodz Film School, Poland). The jury took the originality of the ideas, use of imagery, and composition into consideration to pick the winners.
鈥淏est of BFM鈥 is an annual student film festival, which brings the latest student films by Tallinn University Baltic Film and Media School and Estonian Academy of Arts Animation Department students, and acknowledges the best of them. This year, 68 student films were screened at the festival, and 470 people came to see them. The 鈥淏est of BFM鈥 award-winning movies will screen in Artis Cinema 7-10 April, and will be compiled on a DVD.
