鈥淐hange does not start with companies, but universities. It is an old truth 鈥 education makes you free,鈥 said Mihkel Kangur, senior researcher at the Tallinn University School of Natural Sciences and Health. He added that the number of universities in the higher education market has increased substantially, which means students will make their selection based on the added values, not only the numbers of publications the universities publish.
鈥淭o future students, environmental strategies will become increasingly important, as well as the ways they are implemented, how the balance between equal and ill treatment is maintained, how innovative teaching methods are, etc. Also, their decision will be based on how well the university fits their idea of the future,鈥 Kangur explained. During the workshop, European universities introduce their best practices and innovative solutions in combining digital technologies and sustainable development. Tallinn University will also introduce our new products and services, starting with the 鈥淎vastusrada鈥 (discovery track) that uses digital solutions to introduce the environment surrounding trekking paths.
The proposed speeches will raise many intriguing questions. For example, whether face-to-face meetings are overvalued and make digital tools redundant. The workshop will look into how digital learning tools and environments influence the learning process and what role does interdepartmental cooperation play in sustainability projects.
The event welcomes all current and future students and staff from universities, who see sustainable development and developing learning processes via digital technologies as important. Experts from Finland, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany will share their experiences.
UNICA GREEN (Est. 2011) is an organisation that connects the universities of European capitals that care for sustainability and sustainable development. Read more about the programme and see the abstracts at the . Registration is open until April 10.
