Two contestants from Estonia, Liisi Pastimae (潘丽心)from Viljandi Gumnaasium and Maria Pihlas (马丽娅) from Kuressaare Gumnaasium, won the national contest in September at Tallinn University for 2015 Chinese Bridge and represented Estonia to participate the final held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, in late October this year.
Over 300 contestants from 81 countries participated this competition and Liisi Pastimae won the Good Performance Award. Yesterday, both of the girls received their certificates from CI headquarters at Beijing for one semester scholarship in China in 2016 academic year.
This is the first time that contestants from Estonia via Confucius Institute at Tallinn University have attended Chinese Bridge competition for the past 8 years and won the award for the first time as well. We have quite many potential candidates who are more than welcome to join Chinese Bridge held every year for secondary school students and college students as well. So far Estonia has missed Chinese Bridge for college students for the past 13 years. We expect better performance by secondary school contestants and a breakthrough for college contestants next year. Take the opportunity and you will surely have an unforgettable experience in China.
