Doctoral Degrees Conferred at Tallinn University

Doctoral degrees were conferred to 16 new doctors at Tallinn University on
October 21. The doctors were greeted by the Rector, Professor Tiit Land and
Professor Airi Värnik from the Institute of Social Work. Merike Sisask,
the Institute of International and Social Studies, delivered a speech on
behalf of the doctors.
The following people defended their doctoral degree within the past year:-
Humanities: Tõnis Liibek, Jelena Latt ja Heete Sahkai- Educational
Sciences: Tiia Õun, Inge Timoštšuk, Jarkko Johannes Vilkkilä and Katrin
Aava- Natural Sciences: Kaja Peterson, Liisa Puusepp and Egert Vandel-
Social Sciences: Merike Sisask, Janika Bachmann, Raili Nugin, Eva-Maria
Kangro, Gerli Nimmerfeldt, Peeter Selg and Margarita Kazjulja
Several doctoral degrees were defended outside Tallinn University by the
employess of TLU: Gurly Vedru, senior researcher at the Institute of
History, Terje Väljataga, researcher at the Institute of Informatics,
Kirsti Kislenko, researcher at the Institute of Mathematics and Natural
Sciences, Elle Rajandu, lecturer at the Institute of Mathematics and
Natural Sciences, and Barbi Pilvre, researcher at the Institute of
International and Social Studies.
