Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication School Announces Competition for Media Projects

Send your ideas for a TV show/series to be produced at BFM that would help to use the skills taught here in practice, develop teamwork skills and help build reputation for our school. We prefer projects that look at the society from a young person’s perspective and bring together students from various courses in both the creative and technical teams. The idea must be producible in BFM and adhere to the technical standards of the Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR).

A series can be up to 12 units long. The unit can be up to 28 minutes long, or 58 minutes in case a stand-alone show is proposed.

The competition has two rounds: by December 13th 2015, the idea proposal must be submitted on a single page. The proposal will then be defended in front of a committee.

The proposal must answer the following questions:

  • Why do we need such a show/series?
  • Who is it made for?
  • What are the themes and the techniques to open them?
  • What is the format of the show, how are different media platforms used?
  • Who are the actors and hosts?

For the second round of the competitions, those that advance must submit the following by January 24th, 2016:

  • Script of the pilot
  • Overview of the creative and technical teams of the show/series
  • Technical rider
  • Sketch of the studio in case of a studio production
  • A description of how the show and its ideas will be distributed and the target group engaged on various media platforms.

BFM will offer:

1)      Professional guidance;

2)      Chance to use our TV studio and equipment, or portable equipment for outside shots; editing, sound studio etc.;

3)      Chance to show your production on ETV2 /ei saa aru, mida siin eesti keeleski öeldakse/

4)      Chance to receive EAP’s according to the size of the project and your role in it;

5)      A bonus trip in case your show is aired.

BFM does not offer money, but helps you find sponsors whose activities adhere to the values of Tallinn University.
