Communication Studies has New Content

The Institute of Communications, Tallinn University鈥檚 newest institution,
began its work on September 1, 2010. The institute began with Advertising
and Publicity Studies (Institute of Psychology) and then Public Relations
was added to the BA curriculum as a supplementary subject. Public Relations
and Communication Management studies at the BA and MA level will start next
autumn. Advertising and Intercultural Communication Studies at the  MA
level is also being planned. This is a unique endeavor, because it has
never before been possible to study these subjects in Estonia at the
MA level. Preparations for practical journalism studies in co-operation
with different Estonian media publishers are being made. The Institute of
Communications is planning to develop broad-based communications studies at
the  BA, MA and Doctoral level. The Media and Communications Centre
will also begin working  in the Institute  and will focus on
research in the field of media and communications. It will also help the
new institute  cooperate with international research. The teachers
will be professionals of academic and practical background both from
Estonia and abroad. As a result, some of the lectures and courses will be
in English.
