Academic presentations course in English
This course aims to increase the academic presentation skills and vocabulary of lecturers.
This course for Tallinn University staff aims to increase the academic presentation skills and vocabulary of lecturers.
The course takes place over four seminars and 45 minutes of individual training. All classes take place between 8:30 - 10:00!
The schedule of the course goes as follows:
March 26 | Oral vs. written academic English. Welcoming people, introducing one鈥檚 topic. Structuring a presentation. Expressions to use in various phases of the presentation: introduction, presenting the theme/research findings, making conclusions. |
April 4 | Preparing the presentation text. Writing for reading vs. writing for speaking and listening. Explaining tables and graphs to the listeners. Describing trends. |
April 9 | Presenting one鈥檚 arguments (hedging and boosting). Asking and answering questions. Expressing one鈥檚 opinion. |
April 10 - May 6 | Individual presentations (either face-to-face or via Skype) |
May 7 | Issues raised during the individual presentations. Summary of the course. |
