KorFest, the Tallinn University’s third annual festival for young
choreographers, will take place from May 12 to 26, 2010.The festival, held
by the choreography department of Tallinn University, will host a public
presentation of a number of diploma works of BA and MA students of the
choreography department. The shows have been prepared in cooperation with
the students and their professional advisers with the aim to display the
students’ abilities as dancers as well as choreographers. As an extra
bonus, this year’s festival will host an international symposium
“Imagining Bodies: Landscape, Memory, Community” on May 13 to 15,
providing artists and researchers from 14 countries an arena to discuss the
relationships between bodies and communities. In the spring of 2010 six BA
students and one MA student will present their diploma works. In addition
to choreographic shows prepared by students, two productions directed by
professional choreographers will be staged, giving students a chance to
participate in a dance production lab and in a professional dance creation
process. The first show, a coproduction of the choreographer Oksana Titova
and the second year BA students, named “As a seagull in snow”, was
inspired by the snowy winter and intends to display the students’
technical capacity. On May 25 and 26, Cid Pearlman, a visiting professor of
TU, will introduce his new production “catch-as-catch-can” in
cooperation with the third year dance students as well as a new production
“difficult times” in cooperation with MA dance students. The Cid
Pearlman nights also include his new production named “Unraveled” with
five professional Estonian dancers and his US production “Tie Line” in
cooperation with David King (USA) and Daniel Bear Davis (UK).Program and
