The inauguration ceremony marking the installation of  Professor Tiit
Land as the new Rector of Tallinn University will be held on Wednesday, May
11 at 15:00. The venue for this occasion will be the Ceremonial Hall
in Tallinn University (TU Terra building, Narva Rd 25). Professor Tiit
Land’s term of office  will commence on May 15, 2011.Associate
Professor Kristjan Port, the Chairman of the University Senate, will
deliver the Opening Address for the ceremony. This will be followed
by a speech from Professor Rein Raud.The President of the Republic of
Estonia will honor the inauguration ceremony with his presence. He will
extend his greetings and address the assembly after the performances by the
Tallinn University Choirs and the Estonian Police and Border Guard
Orchestra.Professor Tiit Land's Inauguration and the Rector's Inaugural
Speech will follow.Congratulatory speeches will be made by Mr Jaak
Aaviksoo, the Minister of Education and Research; His Excellency Mr Jan
Palmstierna, the Ambassador of Sweden; Professor Signe Kivi, the Chairman
of the Estonian Rectors’ Conference; Mr Argo Ralja, the Chairman of the
Tallinn University Student Board.Immediately following the ceremony, a
reception will be held in the atrium on the 3rd floor of the TU Mare
