iCal calendarTaking some of the learning experiences outside the classroom into real-life environments, especially in times of coronavirus pandemic, has a lot of promise for connecting knowledge acquisition to the real world. Outdoor collaborative learning in science education has the ability to enrich and develop students' daily experiences. It entails providing students with opportunities to solve complex natural problems that involve applying expertise and skills from various subjects. However, on the other hand studying outside the classroom in real-world settings brings along a number of additional challenges for students.
In the first Eduspace seminar we’ll first present the preliminary results of the research study carried out with school students in outdoor technology-enhanced collaborative learning settings. In particular, we explore how school student's cognitive skills relate in their autonomous self-directed learning in outdoor learning settings and how that outdoor learning activity contributes to students' transformative experience and conceptual change. Secondly, we’ll also introduce in more detail the research instruments used in the study.
