Popular historical narratives circulating in the online environment shape the identities and perceptions of the world of different social groups, and through that affect contemporary political and cultural realities. This ongoing study explores the extent, position and development of pseudohistorical stories on the medieval roots of the Russian state in the Russian language online environments. The data of the study comprises webpages, blog and forum posts scraped in autumn 2019 and Russian language online newspaper articles from Integrum database discussing Russian medieval history. As research methods, we use text reuse detection algorithm BLAST, network analysis and qualitative analysis.
