Garage48 for Public Services 2011 is an innovative workshop designed to
create new or improved public services. The workshop will be held at
Tallinn University from February 25–27, 2011.The Garage48 concept
originated in Estonia and is currently expanding into other European and
African countries. The workshop is a `boot-camp´ style initiative designed
to build new services in just 48 hours. Its goal is to organize different
events that encourage the creation of innovative services. Garage48
workshops always start at 5 pm on a Friday evening with a `think-tank´
presentation of ideas. The weekend is then made up of intense working
sessions designed to build the products and then culminates with the new
product demonstration at 6 pm on Sunday evening.Garage48 takes the view
that public services provide benefits to a broad spectrum of society
and consequently have a wide-ranging effect. The aim of Garage48 for Public
Services 2011 is to combine or improve existing public services or create a
new web or mobile application for them. The objective is to provide a
solution to a problem, not to make money. Seventy motivated
programmers, designers, project managers, NGO volunteers, public servants
and public sector stake-holders are invited to Garage48 for Public Services
2011. Like any other Garage48 event, participants meet on a Friday evening
to select the best ideas and form the workshop teams. After intense
working sessions for two days, the teams are ready by Sunday evening to
showcase their exciting new services with a live demonstration.Registration
is now open at Garage48 homepage. For more information please contact:Elise
