Digital technologies have brought changes and challenges to our everyday life and for participating actively in society, usage of technologies is needed. Therefore, the concept of digital competence has become basic skill and such skills have fast risen to become one of the key competences across different policy related documents. Presentations will give an overview of both digital competences in organisational level and evaluating digital competences across different levels of education with the focus on higher education.

Presentations by Mart Laanpere and Linda Sillat.

At the brink of the 4th industrial revolution, intelligent machines are getting smarter and cheaper, enabling the human workforce to focus on less repetitive and more challenging tasks. This will introduce new risks and demands by triggering changes in the core competencies of certain professions. My research aims to improve the situation through a framework and supporting technologies to enhance industry employees’ workplace growth and support their continuous competency development through machine learning on Big Data from different competency-related systems across stakeholders. The research results in a continuous competency management framework, and architecture of a central competency management system that integrates existing competency-related and TEL systems for providing unified information and apply machine learning in competency development.
