Baltic Film and Media School, with the support of Goethe-Institut Estland is proud to present a masterclass by an internationally acclaimed and Emmy-awarded documentary director, author of "The Wonderful, Horrible Life of Leni Riefenstahl".

Ray Müller will give a one-day masterclass on his award-winning film and documentary filmmaking in general.

The three day masterclass is divided into a first day of a public event for a broader audience centered around Leni Riefenstahl and the documentary about her and following two days is a workshop for registered participants (film students and young documentary filmmakers) on documentary filmmaking.

Wednesday, 29th of October: a public event for a broader audience - "Leni Riefenstahl" seminar, concentrated on the central question in her work: The moral responsibility of an artist.

Schedule:    

  • 12.00-14.00 Screening of "The Wonderful, Horrible Life of Leni Riefenstahl" in BFM Nova cinema, N-426
  • 14.15-16.15 Overview of the making of the film and q&a with the audience
  • Break (after the break the seminar continues in BFM soundstage, room number N-113)
  • 16.35-18.15 Seminar dedicated on the moral responsibilities of an artist

Thursday 30th of October: 16.00-20.00, room N-307 in BFM workshop for registered participants (approx 15-20, filmmakers and film students)

  • Topic: Ray Müller's work on documentaries: talk about his work, showing examples of different films on different topics and explaining difficulties and possible solutions during such productions (including docudramas - reenactments with actors)

Friday 31st of October: 14.15-18.15, room N-307 in BFM

  • Topic: Ready to shoot? (How to improvise fast and efficiently - target: TV reportages under time pressure).
