A night of poetry and music with Philip Gross and the band Resonabilis,
will be held on Friday, January 14 at 18:00 at the Estonian Writers’
Union on Harju Street 1, Tallinn. One of Britain’s most highly acclaimed
poets, Philip Gross, will read his poetry and a performance by Resonabilis
will include music from Tulve, Kallastu, Aints, and Kozlova.Philip Gross
was born in North Cornwall (UK) in 1952. His father was a war refugee from
Estonia, and his mother was the daughter of a local schoolteacher. As a
poet, novelist and playwright, he has written works for both adults and
children. His collection "The Water Table" won Britain’s leading poetry
award, the TS Eliot Poetry Prize, in 2009 and "I Spy Pinhole Eye", his
collaboration with photographer Simon Denison, won the Wales Book of
the Year award in 2010. Philip Gross is Professor of Creative Writing at
Glamorgan University in South Wales. He will be teaching Creative Writing
at the Tallinn Winter School from January 13–17.Resonabilis was very
honoured to perform with Philip Gross at the Vale of Glamorgan Festival
2010 in Wales. Their combined performance was so pleasant and harmonious
that Philip Gross dedicated the following lines of poetry to the band:Her
fingerstouch-test the kannel: part Braille, part dowsing — as if voices
had been buried in the soundbox,here crisp, here silky, here a séance
