From Tallinn Summer School to Tallinn University

I will not exaggerate when I say that Tallinn Summer School (TSS) is a project, that has had strong positive influence on my life for the last 5 years.
In 2012, I came to from Russia to study English. The study process and social programme were really entertaining, everything was very new and exciting for me. It was my first experience in such a big international environment and I liked it a lot. I fell in love with Tallinn Summer School and its idea. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere of Tallinn University (I did not know anything about this university before). After that summer I decided that I want to move to Estonia and Tallinn University - it is a place, where I want to continue my education on a Bachelor’s level (back in my hometown I was finishing the music degree at College of Arts).
In summer 2013 I came back to Tallinn Summer School. This time, along with my studies at TSS, I was taking entrance exams to Tallinn University and in the end of July I was glad to find out, that I was enrolled to a programme of . This programme is very multidisciplinary and I managed to combine studies from different academic fields and I got an opportunity to develop my knowledge and skills in various areas: Communication and Public Relations, International Relations, Psychology and Sociology. That made my study process interesting and entertaining. Of course, all summers I was spending with Tallinn Summer School. Each time I was thinking: “Maybe this year, I can skip, there is nothing new”, and each year, some unexplainable force was bringing me back to TSS. And every year was fun and remarkable. I think, that every time this school gives a new injection of positive vibes and energy, there is always a warm and friendly international atmosphere, that is how my addiction grew. One of the biggest values for me is meeting new interesting, intelligent and talented people and having so many entertaining events and adventures as a part of a cultural programme. After a while, I became a volunteer at Tallinn Winter School and Tallinn Summer School 2016. I found wonderful friends among the participants and TSS team, who became very important for me. No wonder that last August I was so happy to get an offer to work at Tallinn Summer and Winter Schools as an assistant and be part of this project, that after years it also became my hobby and constant destination.
For the last 9 months I have been studying and working at my University. Now I am responsible for the communication with the future Tallinn Summer and Winter Schools 2017 participants, helping to organize the cultural programme and weekend trips around Estonia and many other interesting tasks. I believe my current education helps me to organize and accomplish my work obligations effectively. The opportunity to combine my studies and work, especially at the same institution is very valuable for me. I am glad that I can be useful for Tallinn University and keep on working with colleagues, whom I’ve met when I was coming to TSS for the first time.
Right now I dream and hope to defend my thesis and graduate this June. Additionally, I hope to continue my education on the Master’s level here - at Tallinn University. It is so funny to realise, that my way brought me to Tallinn University as a student and a worker, because one day in the year 2012 I decided to come and study English at Tallinn Summer School.
