First Months at Tallinn University

Our student Reetta from Finland interviewed four of our students Beatriz, Hatago, Felicia and Sasha. Join us for a journey to see how first months at Tallinn University look like for four international students from different nationalities and backgrounds. BeatrizBeatriz Salvada Beatriz is 20 years old and she is a Portuguese student. Back in Portugal she was majoring in Communication and also doing a minor in Biology. She has always wanted to study abroad so she decided to spend her last year at Tallinn University, an Erasmus partner university of her home university. She says: “I love this university! Besides learning what I love, which is journalism and media, all of my classes are held in English, the university's staff is very friendly and helpful and there are always interesting events which only makes it more inviting.” HatagoHatago Helu Hatago is from Namibia, her parents are diplomats working for the Namibian government, so she has been living all over the world her entire life, hence going to study abroad was a logical choice for her. She discovered Tallinn University thanks to her mother’s friend who suggested her to visit DreamApply application system site. She is studying at Tallinn University. She chose this field because she loves working with people and understanding human behaviour. FeliciaFelicia Liu Fangling Felicia is from Singapore and studying . She knew right away that she wanted to study media after interning and working in the entertainment industry for about a year after completing Junior College. She wanted to look for a school overseas as she wanted a fresh perspective and broaden her mind for inspiration. She has always been fascinated by the idea of how moving pictures can motivate one to action – to change their lifestyles or to start a movement for a cause. She believes the power of media is a force to be reckoned with, and if used in the correct way, can perhaps change the world one step at a time. She wanted to involve herself in an industry that is admittedly not an easy one in terms of finance and working hours, with the hope that someday she will be able to make a difference in somebody’s life. So she stumbled across Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication School on a forum when she was googling affordable education in Europe. She checked out the students’ works online and was incredibly impressed by the standard of students’ works – so she applied. sashaSasha Cattelan Sasha is from Italy and studies there English, Russian and French. Here he studies also languages and fine arts. He is here for a semester with the . Since his knowledge of Russian language is weaker than the knowledge of French and English, he wanted to do his Erasmus in a city where Russian is spoken quite often. Since his university had no links to any Russian universities, the next best option was Tallinn. He likes it here and finds it very interesting to discover our small Baltic State. ReettaReetta Hämäläinen Reetta herself is a first year student at Tallinn University. She wanted to study abroad in an international environment, but yet close to her home, Finland so her choices were Sweden and Estonia. While she was reading the introductions of the study programmes, was the only programme that truly inspired her. She made her choice and applied.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkR7o4zHDmo If you as an foreigner got inspiration from our active and great students and might be interested in studying at Tallinn University, then the very next time you have the possibility to meet us and ask more information about TU and our programmes is in Helsinki, Finland at from 1st to 2nd December or you can join us at a held on 9th December.
