I am Denisse from Mexico and I’m going to share my experience of how I ended up studying at Tallinn University.

My curiosity about Estonia started when I watched a YouTube video about Tallinn being the European Capital of Culture in 2011. In summer 2012 I was traveling around Spain and when I was in Barcelona I found a very affordable flight ticket to Tallinn, so finally I could visit Estonia even though it was not in my plans so I thought, why not? Spontaneous decisions can always surprise you and change your life for better.
Thanks to that I was in Tallinn for two weeks and I fell in love with the city, I wandered around the medieval city, getting lost through the tiny and well preserved streets of Old Town while feeling like I was travelling back in time, although it is full of history I also noticed how modern it was at the same time, such an old city but with a modern society and government.
Visiting the city for only one week made me notice how safe and beautiful place it was so I found it perfect to live at and to be honest; I loved it, even though the weather was a little bit fresh for the summer, I witnessed the country’s advantages, I noticed that Estonia is definitely one of the most developed countries in Europe thanks to the success of its digital government and e-society. Besides it’s full of technological innovation, culture, history, future, the nature is charming and Estonians respect and love it in a beautiful way. Yeah! It’s small, but for me that's good, the location is perfect to visit neighboring countries. Helsinki is only 2 hours away by ferry. Sounds nice, right?

For a long time I wanted to study a MA degree in Europe so undoubtedly I chose Tallinn and therefore I examined all the Tallinn University's MA programmes that could match with my previous International Business BA in order to complement my knowledge with international politics. Subsequently reading the “” curricula I found out that I could either specialise in Globalisation and Regional Co-Operation or International Security and Conflict Studies so I applied for the first one, it is so interesting that you can choose and specialise for what is better for your life plans.
The was completely online and very easy, the international admission specialist replied to my emails quite rapidly, I uploaded all the prerequisite required documents using a webpage and e-mail, the programme coordinator arranged an interview using Skype, approximately one month after the interview I was successfully accepted, so I moved to Estonia.
Tallinn University offers an Orientation Week in which the staff and very friendly students welcome and guide you for all the processes that you as an international student need to complete, such as registering to your courses, campus tour, open your student account and so on. They also introduce you the Student Union; who organises multicultural events, excellent parties, student trips and visits to important places, I was amazed about the number of international students from all around the world that come to Tallinn for a quality education, even Finnish students who have the best education system in the world.
So far it has been an exceptional experience that has changed my life and mind for good, I am extremely thankful because I have had the opportunity to meet all the extraordinary people that I’ve met living in such an amazing country full of beautiful people. I love Estonian culture. Come and study in Estonia! You will never regret!
