The Coolest and Weirdest Spots in Tallinn University Campus

If you’d come back to your first day ever at Tallinn University, the most probable case is that you’ll re-experience is the feeling of being lost in this complex labyrinth of six buildings.
A more complicated labyrinth even than some exit room games! And despite the fact that I am Spanish, during my first days, I promise, I arrived to the class ten minutes late because I was lost.

But let’s be sincere, this jungle of aisles, classrooms, stairs and offices is also cool, and I am sure that all of us have found at least one spot where to feel like home. And at the same time, I am pretty sure that we have found places where we automatically thought: “What the hell! What is this place here?” Sometimes these places were surprisingly positive and sometimes really weird, but these places are part of Tallinn University’s charm as well. For these reasons, I conducted a “research” (tip: use this word in your final thesis) with the aim of finding the coolest and weirdest spots in Tallinn University campus, and for this I asked students from different programmes to share with me their experiences.
Surprising or not, many of us like the Study Centre in Astra building, and for example Tobias Mayr and me like the third floor of the Centre at sunny days, it’s a calm and peaceful place to work. Tobias, who is one of our students this year, enjoys spending time in the underground part of Oaas Cafeteria as well. Then, Reetta Hämälinen, a student of and active member of , and Kelli Kiipus, alumnus of Art Therapy and a member of the ESN as well, like the office. Reetta and Lander Varona, a former Erasmus student, agree that one of the best spots in Tallinn University campus is the cinema and the amphitheatre near the entrance.
In addition, Carlos Vargas, a PhD student of , explained that for him the best spot in the campus was his old office on the third floor of Astra building, and he “kindly” asked to get it back (good luck Carlos!). And then, Türkü Köksel, a student of Liberal Arts in Humanities, confirms that her favourite spot is located at the entrance of Astra building on the top left side of the sitting steps, and she explains that it’s almost like her formal address (I should try to send her a postcard…).

But, which are the weirdest spots in the campus? Reetta finds weird the coat tracks on the top floors of Astra and Terra, and Carlos doesn’t understand why in Mare building we can't use the stairs until the third floor. Lander finds positively weird the egg shape classroom on the second floor of Astra building, and indeed, on my first time there I hesitated if that was a classroom or not. Tobias finds positively weird the entrance of the Nova building, truly a nice building.
For Kelli, one of the weirdest spots is the classroom in Astra building with glass walls (the big brother is watching you). And Türkü has decided to open Pandora’s box, and she explains that the weirdest place is Ursa building, and she wants to know what is going on there. Certainly, nobody knows what is happening in Ursa…
Definitely, Tallinn University has a lot of different and lovely spots in the entire campus, and this is probably what makes this university unique for all of us. And just before concluding, I would also like to cheer for all the students, professors, and staff members who have spent more than 5 minutes for finding a classroom or office, and made it not to arrive too late.
