The Japanese former Ambassador Akio Kawato will deliver a public lecture
entitled “Japan's strategy for security and prosperity: The way to
survive the global paradigm shift” on Tuesday, November 9 at
16.00–18.00 in Room M-225 (TU Mare building, Uus-Sadama 5). Japan has
been prospering and enjoying freedom in its society, but at the same time,
heavily reliant on the U.S. security guarantee. Things are now changing: a
growing Chinese power and a struggling West. What should Japan's strategy
be for future?The speaker, Mr. Akio KAWATO, is a former Japanese ambassador
with extensive experience in Russia, Germany, Sweden, the U.S.A., Central
Asia and China. He will present his observations on the political and
social changes in Japan, Europe, Russia, the CIS countries, the U.S. and
China. Based on his experience he will elaborate on future courses for
Japan's security, economic growth and democratic governance.His views are
