Simple instructions how to study the sky

In his TU One-Minute lecture, Master’s student Martin Vällik, who has an interest in astronomy, provides simple instructions for becoming smart by studying the sky.

“One’s first acquaintance with a star-filled sky is like a visit in a strange city. In order to move around easily and not get lost, we use a map,” encourages Vällik, a novice sky observer. Nowadays, one can study celestial bodies from traditional maps of the sky and also with the help of a mobile phone application.

Sky observations are organised within the framework of TU astronomy courses; the university has an authentic telescope for watching the night sky as well as a solar telescope. Astronomy can be studied as an elective course at the university.
