For the purpose of applying to the Guest Lecturer in Statistics and R for Linguists Position, Tallinn University School of Humanities (controller, tyhiteadus@tlu.ee) processes the following personal data:
The Graduate School of Linguistics, Philosophy and Semiotics (GSLPS) is a cooperation between the University of Tartu, Tallinn University, the Estonian Literary Museum and the Institute of the Estonian Language. The GSLPS was established in 2009, furthering a network that started with the Graduate School of Linguistics and Language Technology (2005–2009).
The aims of the Graduate School of Linguistics, Philosophy and Semiotics are:

the innovation and optimisation of the PhD programmes included in the graduate school,

raising the quality of the supervision of linguistics, philosophy and semiotics theses, thereby achieving a stable increase through the training of supervisors,

increasing the number of doctoral degrees within the standard period of study in the field of the graduate school and improving the quality of the theses,
-
improving versatile internal and international cooperation and participating in the preparation of top researchers.
The aim of the position is to provide an introduction to the exploration and analysis of linguistic data with the statistical toolkit R (a free software environment for statistical computing). The course by Guest Lecturer should cover a wide range of topics (18 academic hours total), from an introduction to statistical principles and the logic of scientific hypothesis testing to multivariate confirmatory methods such as regression analysis.
Requirements for an applicant:

Expertize in Statistics and R for Linguists.

To conduct the intensive course in May 2019.

PhD in Linguistics.

Research experience at international level.

The application must describe the aim and length of the intensive course of the Guest Lecturer and must include the fee (gross) Guest Lecturer wishes to obtain.

Travel costs to Tallinn and back.

Accommodation in Tallinn.

Catering during the intensive course.
Selection process:

The applications will be assessed by the member of GSLPS council at Tallinn University.

The successful applicant will be announced within a month after the application deadline.
